Today, local employer Asendia, a global logistics provider, announced its move to a bigger facility in Adanac Drive, Nursling in Test Valley. Around 30 employees will move to this facility from the Chandlers Ford site, and a further 45 new jobs will be created by the end of 2022 – more than doubling its workforce in that time. Asendia is investing £4 million over the next ten years to support its growing business in the region. This commitment will make a significant contribution to the economic recovery locally.
The new site will focus on e-commerce and direct mail fulfilment, and returns handling. There is also scope for hybrid projects, such as the distribution of marketing campaign materials for local businesses, charities, and sports events. The aim is to adapt and tailor to the unique needs of clients.
The recruitment drive is thanks to a significant increase in e-commerce growth in the last year, and available job openings will be posted on the Asendia website.
This relocation will also allow the company’s existing mailing house services to continue to provide personalised high-quality printing, packing, polywrapping and postal services, supporting local and national businesses to undertake efficient and effective mailings.
Directly facing the Ordnance Survey Headquarters, the modern building was chosen due to its seaport location, ideal for goods imported into the UK for dispatch to consumers across the country and internationally.
Carl Loader, Fulfilment Director at Asendia UK said: ‘Our new Nursling facility is a fast-developing technology hub with a strong talent base. Our investment in the larger facility translates into creating more jobs for the area, and gives us the opportunity to expand our e-commerce fulfilment service’.
‘We feel very fortunate that during this extremely challenging time for a lot of businesses, Asendia is in a fast growth sector as people buy more online. We are set to go from strength to strength.’
Commenting on the new facility, Cllr David Drew, Test Valley Borough Council’s cabinet member for Economic Development and Tourism said: ‘I’m always delighted to welcome new businesses into the Borough and Asendia have chosen a great location, with excellent communication links. The e-commerce sector is growing fast and I’m certain they are well placed for success.’
Local councillor and fellow Cabinet Member and Portfolio Holder, councillor Phil Bundy went on to say: ‘I’ve watched this site develop from inception to implementation, and am very pleased that businesses are moving in and supporting the local economy.’
Asendia is a global leader in international e-commerce and mail business, harnessing the power of e-commerce fulfilment technology to transform the complex world of deliveries into a simple, seamless experience. Through recent business wins, Asendia has a growing client base of major brand names such as Boden, Chilly’s, Bali Body and Urban Outfitters.
