Carrefour partners with GreenYellow to install solar panels at its French stores

(Reuters) – Carrefour said on Monday it had entered into a partnership with French renewable energy company GreenYellow for the installation and operation of solar panels in the car parks of around 350 of its hypermarkets and supermarkets in France.

Under the agreement, GreenYellow will finance the photovoltaic production equipment that are expected to generate about 450 GWh of electricity per year, covering around 20% of Carrefour stores’ power demand, the French retailer said in a statement.

GreenYellow currently has 1,320 solar plants installed or under construction, according to data published on its website.

The company was controlled by French supermarket chain Casino before being sold to French investment firm Ardian in 2022.
